Amongst today’s losers, Irish financial stocks led the way. Slightly after halftime, Allied Irish Banks (AIB) is down 35 cents or 9.10% to 3.44. Bank of Ireland (IRE) is down 49 cents or 6.09% to 7.56. However, there is still some hope in Ireland.

Allied Irish Banks intends to participate in the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) bank asset acquisition programme in Ireland. Under the NAMA Programme, NAMA will acquire eligible bank assets from AIB, which will include performing and non-performing loans.
